I experienced civility today: a conversation in which the other parties disagreed, yet during which we were all polite and remained friends. I miss civility. I miss it because it is so rare. I wonder when we began to consider yelling louder than the other person so that their point cannot be heard to be a valid debate method. Are our convictions so fragile that we fear others knowing both sides and deciding for themselves? If so, then that is a sad state of affairs. We need more civility.
